The Volunteer Center of Erie County celebrated this event with a reception at the Kalahari on March 20th, and we were there to support her and honor all her volunteer work for our local community. Kelli Rodriguez-Laws received her dental hygiene degree at El Paso Community College in El Paso, TX. She has been in practice for 16 years and is licensed in 3 states. Kelli received her certification to administer local anesthesia in 2003 from Detroit Mercy Dental School. Her passions include working as a youth minister with the St. Peter's Jr. High Youth Group, reading books on leadership development and personal growth, and spending time relaxing with her husband and 3 children.

Congrats to our front desk gal, Nancy for winning our Costume Contest! She dressed as the little pig from the car commercial that says "weeeeeeeeeee, weeeeeeee" out the car window. At least she gets points for originality! Only one vote separated her from our hygienist, Erin, who dressed up as Dr. Stefano. Half of the office mistook Erin for Dr. Stefano at least once that day! Pretty great costumes ladies, thanks for all of your Halloween Spirit!

Girls Night Out 2010

Girls Night Out is a charity event to raise funds for Cancer Services, Fisher-Titus Mammography Fund, Firelands Regional Medical Center Cancer Program Fund, and North Coast Cancer Foundation. Dr. Stefano is an active member of Cancer Services and sponsored a table for our office to attend the event. We had a great time together, enjoying the food, live entertainment, and silent auction. We also checked out the "Bra's for a Cause", had a great time popping pink balloons for charity, and cheered during "Deal or No Deal." All in all a fabulous evening!

Fire Safety First!

Today we were happy to have Fire Fighter Keith from the Perkins Township Fire Department come to our office and educate us on the ins and outs of fire safety. We learned our ABC's of the different kinds of fires: Class A fires are for items that turn into ASH, such as wood, cloth, paper, and rubber, Class B fires are for items that BOIL, like oils, grease, and paints, and lastly Class C fires are electrical ones that start from a CURRENT. We all remember PASS, Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep for fire extinguisher use. We each had an opportunity to practice using a water pressure fire extinguisher to put out a real fire. In order for us to be prepared in case of a fire, we all also practiced our fire drill to mobilize the office and get everyone to saftey. It was definitely an educational day at the office!

It’s an exciting time in our office, and we pride ourselves by using the most advanced technology available in order to give our patients the highest quality dental care. Recently we are proud to announce the addition of intraoral cameras in all of our opperatories. A picture is a thousand words, and these cameras will allow patients see for themselves any areas of concern. We hope this will be a valuable tool to educate our patients about their dental care.

Today was an exceptionally beautiful day for a picnic and the office had a moment during lunchtime to enjoy the weather. Thanks Dr. Stefano for picking a perfect day to eat outside! Dr. Stefano's husband, Jim, grilled up some amazing burgers and dogs for the staff lunch, but Lee gets credit for the yummy deviled eggs! We all had a great time soaking up the sun, thanks, Doc. for the outdoor treat!

We are proud of our dental assistants, Cristin, Lee, and Colleen for becoming board certified dental assistants! This honor is only given to those exceptional assistants who pass a rigourous national exam. All restorative dental procedures call for a two person team and Certified Dental Assistants, or CDA's for short, are an integral part of 'four handed dentsitry.' They directly assist the dentist, take x-rays, and offer their comfort and support. We are very proud to have them at our office. Congratulations to all of you!
